Description:
'Cremorne' was the 1872 'Derby' horse race winner. The race was over 1 and a half miles (2400 meters) for 3 year olds, held at Epsom Downs. Its name derived from the Victorian Cremorne Gardens in Chelsea. They had been transformed from a farm into a pleasure garden in 1843, and had a monster dancing stage and landscaped attractions with discrete pavilions in dark corners. It also had magnificent gas lighting in public parts.
This pub was demolished in 2007.
