'The proprietor of the shop was Frederick Mitchell and this photograph is dated 1900, shortly after he became occupier. By 1904 he had moved to Alfreton Road. He later became one of the leading motorcar dealers in the city. He also played a prominent role in public affairs; becoming an Alderman and in 1943 was Lord Mayor of Nottingham. He was also involved in the development of Beeston Fields Golf Club.'
