Description: Reg Baker was a well known figure in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire villages, always accompanied by his bike on which he travelled around taking photographs. The majority of his valuable collection of photographs were donated to Nottingham Local Studies Library on his death (mid 1980s) and he is responsible for many of the images here in 'Picture the past'. Reg has written a poem on the reverse of the photograph, which reads: Re this photograph of me, Entering Clifton Grove you see, Going on a mission of photography. Bicycle too, my reliable steed, Always meets my transport need, Known too as my emblem indeed; Enabling me to travel around, Recording on film all of interest found, (ere demolition raze it to the ground), for the benefit of posterity. The first eight lines of the poem are a palindrome (REG BAKER).
