Description: The south east front of Wollaton Hall, Nottingham. Wollaton Park stands just outside Nottingham. The hall was built between 1580 and 1588 and is a fine example of Elizabethan architecture. It consists of a central hall with four towers at the corner, and has many windows giving it an airy appearance. It was built for Sir Francis Willoughby by the architect of Longleat, Robert Smythson. Sadly, Smythson's interior of the Hall was destroyed by fire. A remodelling was completed by Sir Jeffrey Wyatville in 1801. It is now owned by Nottingham City Council and houses a natural history museum.
