Description: The cathedral side of North Circus Street looking towards the newly rebuilt Albert Hall. The first Albert Hall (See NTGM005510) was opened on 20th September, 1876. The hall sadly burnt down on the night of 22nd April, 1906. The present day 'Albert Hall', seen here, now stands on the site of Watson Fothergill's original building and was opened in 1909 after re-building. The poster on the side of the canopy states 'TONIGHT! ANIMATED PICTURES!', so the hall was being used as an early cinema as well as for speakers and concerts. Also note the Hansom cab rank and cab man's shelter in front of the hall.
