Description: This pond is now part of the Harrison's Plantation Nature Reserve. The site is a mixed woodland which has developed naturally from a series of silted up ponds which were used to provide fish for the table and a series of small willow woodlands, known as holts, once associated with the mediaeval fishery at Martin's Pond. Today the site is home to a wide range of wildlife with trees, wild flowers and birds. This picture shows the site prior to the development of Torvill Drive which now skirts the NE side of the pond, and shows allotments and an estate of pre-fab houses in the background. The location was adjacent to Wollaton Colliery, seen here on the left.
