Description:
The portal of entry, looking southeast from London Road. The bridge is over the Nottingham Canal.
From left to right: Hanger Motors Depot, on the site of Abraham Pyat's timber yard. In the back background, between the building and the notice, is the parapet of the GNR bridges over Meadow Lane. The tall chimney and concrete building is the new incinerator for the City's, and parts of the County, refuse disposal. It is the source of energy for the heating scheme to various parts of the City and St Ann's.
On the right of the van is the former Hide, Skin and Fat Market, now used as a vehicle repair depot.
Right of the parked cars are former employees residences, now used as offices by the Technical Services Department.
The buiding with the clock was formerly the administrative offices, and residence of the Engineer in charge of the depot. It is now the Works Division of the Housing Department.
The low building this side of it is a stone-shed for materials, and lies alongside the canal towpath. Right is it is the right wing of the west block of the former stables. The tower to the right of it is in the centre of the west wing of the east block of the former stables.
