Description: The ‘Bassingfield Stone’ is an ‘erratic’ made of Hornblend Schist, a hard crystalline rock and it was either washed down from the Grampian Mountains to the Trent Valley during the last Ice Age; or owing to the location of the boulder, brought to Brassingfield by Bronze Age man. It is now in University Park, located near the Trent Building and was discovered in 1949.
