Description:
Approach from east (Lincolnshire) side. On left is toll-keeper's cabin and Tollhouse is on right. The toll-keeper is responsible for taking the tolls from drivers proceeding westwards only. No toll is levied on pedestrians or cyclists. Above the cabin are the lights to illuminate the toll-keepers area during the hours of darkness, the tolls being collected 24 hours a day. (Reg Baker).
Bridge has since been re-built and widened and is still a toll bridge with a fee of 30p pence car, which is an interestingly small inflation rate compared to the 10p per car in 1977!
