Description:
South-east aspect of bridge and buttress from the western end. On the right is the bridge carrying 20' water mains over the river; quite a substantial bridge for the purpose. A single-span extends from the west bank of the river to the east side of the anti-flood bank on the east bank. On the Lincolnshire side is a farmhouse and farm-buildings. The power-lines link Cottham and High Marnham electricity generating stations with the national grid. Cottham is north of Dunham; High Marnham is south. In the foreground is the silt left by the recent floods which had only subsided the previous week. Due to the road being flooded to a considerable depth on the Nottinghamshire side of the bridge, it was closed for a period and traffic was diverted via Gainsborough or Newark (Reg Baker, 8 March 1977).
Bridge has since been re-built and widened and is still a toll bridge.
