Description:
North aspect looking east. On the right is the toll-keepers cabin and anove it to illuminate the area during the hours of darkness. Through the bridge is the bridge carrying the water mains (see NTGM019674). The water in the foreground is not a creek but the aftermath of the late February floods. On the left is the toll-house, erected at the time the bridge was built. The normal course of the river is between the second pier and the buttress on the east side (Reg Baker, 8 March 1977).
Bridge has since been re-built and widened and is still a toll bridge.
