Description:
The former 'Northern' Hotel, on the north side of Nottingham Road (once the A610), seen here from the SW. The house on the left is on the south sde of Station Road, which leaves Nottingham Road at the end of the wall beyond the right edge. It ceased to be licensed premises in 1920, and since then has served a number of purposes, the last being as a surplus store sales depot. Beyond it are steps to Station Road, and a similar set of steps are near the second lamp-standard. The section of wall near the first lamp-standard is the buttress of the bridge that carried the ex GN Railway over the road. The building is now derelict and only the shell remains, awaiting demolition.
