Description:
The Grove Tavern on the corner of Queen's Bridge Road and Queen's Grove, looking south-west. The latter (to the right here) was a cul-de-sac of terraced dwellings almost entirely surrounded by industry. The art deco style pub had been constructed by the Nottingham Brewery Company in 1937 as a replacement for an earlier structure on the same site.
By June 2011, although all the buildings shown here were still standing, much had changed. Queen's Bridge Road had been narrowed to form a cycle route (replaced by the dual carriageway Sheriffs Way running parallel), Queen's Grove had been demolished with only a truncated stub of the road giving access to commercial premises, while the pub had been renamed The Vat and Fiddle.
