Description:
Looking west from North Gate, and crossing the centre is Egypt Road. This street's name, like many other Victorian streets in Nottingham reflects the Victorian obsession with Empire; its possessions, wars, victories and eminent people. Other examples are streets like Zulu Road, Isandula Road and Nile Street.
The corner property was at one stage occupied by Kathleen Tomlinson, who ran it as a drapery type shop, and the attached property on it's left side was the dwelling of The Burton family in the 1960's. (Thanks to Craig Strongman for the information).
