Description: The Old Market Square, from the top of Exchange Walk, showing the Council House on the left and the National Provincial Bank in the centre. The Market Square is the biggest in Britain at 5.5 acres, and was once home to the famous Goose Fair, before it became too large and was moved to the Forest Recreation Ground. The Council House was built in 1927-9 by Cecil T Howitt, in a neo-Baroque style.
