Description:
Wellington Terrace is a row of three-storey dwellings off Arundel Street at the top of Ilkeston Road, Radford. Since this view was taken the houses have been renovated and restored to their original appearance. The photographer is here looking north-east from the junction with Arundel Street.
An article in the Nottingham Arrow in 1987 says: 'An improvement scheme is being prepared for the whole of Wellington Terrace, a prominent block of Victorian houses backing onto Ilkeston Road and within the Canning Circus Conservation Area. The block has 18 properties, mostly converted into flats and while some have been improved with the help of council grants, progress has been slow and the terrace remains unsightly. The council has appointed a project manager to prepare the scheme, cost the proposals and negotiate with the individual property owners. Inner Area Programme funding is also being sought. A report to councillors pointed out that the terrace was ideally located to act as a catalyst for other restoration and environmental works.'
