Description: The wholesale stationers have a Royal Warrant which says 'Engravers and Printers by appointment (to the late) Prince Albert.' Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria had died in 1861, so the photograph must date after 1861. An 1868 directory lists these businesses seen here. The stationers is above The Weavers Vaults at No. 6. Next door is Baumfields Hosiers at No. 4.
