Description: Edward and John Turney founded the Tannery on the River Trent in 1881. Turney Brothers Limited produced 'Trent Bridge' willow calf which became famous as one of the first UK full chrome calf leathers produced in many colours for the ladies shoe trade. This photograph was taken from the south side of the River Trent, showing Trent Bridge on the left hand side of the photograph. The black and white timbered building is Boots Social Club on Arkwright Street. The building to the left of Boots with the stepped gable is the former 'Town Arms'.
