This popular Inn used to be located on Pelham Street, the Durham Ox was pulled down and replaced with the Bodega in 1901, which in turn has been replace by a modern Bar. Local Lacemakers & Printer's Trade Unions used this pub for their weekly meetings. In 1855 the Inn provided a growing need for entertainment and made the transition into a minor music hall often called a 'Free & Easies'. The New Amateur Musical Society, performed regularly at the Durham Ox
