Description: The University School (Boarding and Day) was originally located at no 5, then later 5a and no 7 Waverley Street (at the corner of Portland Road). Between 1854 (approx) and 1883 it was kept by George Herbert and George Nicholas Herbert, MA FCP. George Herbert had previously had a school in Castle Gate, then Low Pavement, before re-locating to the University School on Waverley Street. His successors were Rev Charles Yeld, then Herbert Lewis Perry.
