Description:
The photograph was not dated, but was part of a batch of school pictures originally donated by the City Engineers Department, all dating from the early 1930's. A notation on the back of the pictures state that it was a 'Bilateral School' (in this instance 'bilateral' has a specific meaning in that the school was a comprehensive, but was split in tems of ability between those expected to get CSEs or O Levels and those (called the Grammar Stream) expected to move on to a Grammar School and do A levels)
It is now used as a Council staff training centre. Please let us know if you can give us a more precise date for this photograph.
