Description: Royal Children was listed in the first town directory of 1799. The Royal Children is a pub with medieval origins. The royal children in question were Princess Anne's children in the 1680's. It is alleged that upon the birth of a royal child all the regulars are given a glass of champagne. It does have a picture of the fattest man in England (54 stone) in the lounge though. The whalebone above the door indicated that whale oil was sold there.
