Description:
This picture was not dated, but Brownhills Motor Sales does not appear in any directory before 1956. The picture, going by the teenager's 'Ducks Arse' hair do, looks to date at around the late 1950's. A web-site user has suggested that it could be 1959. When the Hucknall Road area of Bulwell near Moor Bridge was also flooded to about 1 foot. This picture also shows Lamb Bros Cycle Dealers.
Another web-site user has suggested it is earlier than 1959 and puts the date at 1947, because Brownhills Motor Sales were selling American cars by the early 1950's, at which time the petrol pumps had been removed.
The boy with the brown plastic cap, in the foreground and undersized overcoat is David Glover, who estimates this photograph was taken in 1951-1952 also the tall boy in light coloured trousers was called John White. The chap with the light coloured hair and hands in his pockets near the white boat is Graham Hoggard. The other boy with dark coat near the white boat is Peter Rock.
