Description: Exception Rainfall for September to November 2000 was the highest since records began in 1766. This lead to widespread flooding which was experienced in most regions across the UK at some time or another during the autumn and early winter of 2000 through to January of 2001. This picture shows the M1 motorway on its raised embankment snaking across the Trent Valley. The river can be seen cutting diagonally across the bottom right corner, and it is barely possible to make out the weir at Sawley. Sawley and Long Eaton can be seen at the top of the picture.
