Description: This is a rear view of Lenton University Hospital looking north east from the access road to residential quarters. Queen's Medical Centre, University Hospital, affectionately known as Queen's to the people of Nottingham, welcomed its first patient in August 1978. The first purpose-built teaching hospital in the UK, it brings together patient care, teaching and research under one roof. Queen's replaced five hospitals - the General, the Women's, the Children's, the Eye and Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital. Together they have a history of healthcare in the Nottingham area of more than 200 years. (information from www.qmc.nhs.uk)
