About this image
The engine belongs to the London and North Western Railway. Its a 'Large Jumbo' class 2-4-0 and rejoices in the name of 'Prince Albert'. It came into service in 1890 and was withdrawn in 1914. The LNWR worked passenger services into London Road from Northampton via Melton Mowbray, a long cross-country route that would not have required an express passenger engine.
