Description: This view shows the old Church Hall in the process of being demolished, looking north east from the junction of Wilford Road and Rupert Street. The Parish Church of St George, Nottingham was built between 1887 and 1891. While Pevsner describes it as being a Gothic Revival building, it is a rather understated example of that style. The main architectural interest of the building are in the chancel and chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, added by the renowned architect GF Bodley in 1897. The lady chapel of c1911 - a donation by the founder of the Society for the Sacred Mission who served the parish for many years - is believed to be to Bodley's design. The organ case set on the north wall of the chancel is also the work of Bodley. (information from home.clara.net/st.george) The old St George's Church Hall was on St Augustines Street
