Description: From Friar lane (left), showing the Roman Catholic Apostolic Chapel on the right. See also NTGM002237 for the same view on a photograph. This original watercolour was painted in 1932, to give a retrospective idea of how the street looked in 1840 and, as such, the fashions of the people in the picture are not quite right for the supposed period. All of these old buildings on Spaniel Row were demolished in the mid 20th century.
