About this image

The originator of this image was S W A Newton of Leicester, from one of his glass plate negatives. He photographed the construction of the Annesley to Marylebone 'London Extension' in it's entirety. The houses to the far right are at the top of St. Albans Rd.

In 1897, the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway changed its name to Great Central Railway.
