Description: An engraving from Throsby's edition of Thoroton's History of Notts vol 2. Sneinton Hermitage lies to the east of Nottingham, in the parish of Sneinton. The Hermitage is a long range of perpendicular rock, overlooking the vale of the Trent, and is dotted with caves. Many brick houses have been built up against the rock, and these caves are used as living space.
