Description: Nottinghamshire's Robin Hood festival, which takes place in Sherwood Forest, lasts for a whole week, starting each year at the beginning of August. Highlights include a jousting tournament where the knights show off their skills and also a festive feast with a hog roast, jugglers, jesters and minstrels, quack physicians, rascally rat-catchers and plague victims. Re-enactments include the Sheriff of Nottingham's coffers being ransacked and the rich being relieved of their purses.
