Description: This view, published in Orange's History of Nottingham vol. 2, shows the south west aspect of the building. Designed by S S Rawlinson. The foundation stone for the chapel was laid on 29 October 1838. The chapel was designed to hold some sixteen hundred people, and cost £11,000 to construct. When this chapel was opened by the Rev. J. Beaumont a collection was taken which amounted to £642, an enormous sum of money in those days. William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, was converted here in 1844. Later became the Co-operative Educational Centre.
