Description: Looking west from Brewhouse Yard, behind are the walls and bastions of Nottingham Castle. Nestled in the rock below Nottingham Castle, the houses are part of a group of 17th century cottages some of which have since been converted for use by the Brewhouse Yard Museum. Thomas Sandby, the famous Nottingham artist did an illustration in 1741 which shows the area in detail, including trees, Rock Cottage, chimneys and the Gate Hangs Well public house.
