Description: Work-in-progress of demolishing the premises which are to make way for the new Nottingham Technical College. Looking west at junction with South Sherwood Street. The Guildhall is on the extreme right and the former Playhouse in the distance on the left. See NTGM012217 for view taken before the University building was built. The caption with this photograph, as was printed in the Notts Guardian Journal read; 'When the picture was taken, the Greyhound (public house) was already in the hands of the housebreakers, and it was perhaps a month or so, before the Spread Eagle was to share a similar fate. For a time, the Guildhall, which is shamed for its grime, by its newer neighbour, could catch a glimpse of the Masonic Hall in Goldsmith Street and St. Andrew's Prebysterian Church.'
