Description:
Website contributor David Prince states the following: Turners bakery was opened by Associated British Foods (Sunblest) mid to late 1950s on Hucknall Road, between ABF and just before Haydn Road. At the time it was publicised as one of the most modern bakeries in the country at a cost of c £250,000. Before being bought out by ABF, Turners operated as Turner and Mason out of a building on Wollaton Street, the entrance to the building being between the Wilberforce pub and the Gaumont Cinema. The premises were vast, housing a bakery on the top floor, delivery section at street level and vehicle parking underground.
