Description: Friar Lane was known as Park Street at the time of this picture, however the address of the building with the steps was 4 Castle Place, which can also be seen in NTGM006632. The gate on the right is here used as access to the Court of Probate. The building was later used by Lewitt's Antiques who once had a shop at 27 Park Street. Part of Friar Lane was formerly called Park Street, but was widened and extended to form Friar Lane between 1916 and c 1930. (This building can be seen in NTGM002633 after its conversion into a shop)
