Description:
Part of a series of pictures (see NTGM014509 through to 14516) which shows the south side of Forman Street from The Peach Tree Inn (now Langtry's Public House) to New Yard (now Trinity Walk).
Eigth and last in the series showing Trinity Walk to the left with premises of Longhurst Grocers and T.G. Edwards Watch and Clock Repairs, looking down to Parliament Street. New Yard was the birthplace of Bendigo the Boxer and the houses that can be seen were all frame-knitters houses as can be indicated by the width of the windows on the upper stories.
Note the fascinating display of advertising posters on the building on the left. Advertising everything from Sunlight Soap to Oxo and Birds Custard as well as theatre shows, clearance sales and what appears to be a mixture of events at the Empire Theatre including a Magic Carpet!
