The church was erected in 1847, demolished in 1951 and made into the garden pictured here. It lay between Ronald Street and Baldwin Street, off Ilkeston Road.
Taken from Geoffrey Oldfield's book on Nottingham published by Breedon Books in 2007.
Website user Val Jayakoddy has written in with her memories of the Garden of Rest:
I lived in Denton Street, Radford in the late 1940s and my parents were married at Christ Church. After the church was demolished, the land it had stood on was separated into two halves and the Ilkeston Road side was made into a Garden of Rest. Beautiful roses grew in abundance and we kids occasionally took a few for our teachers at Douglas Road School, just opposite the garden, until the garden caretaker put a stop to that! I vaguely recall playing in the disused church and my older sister remembers putting wild flowers on the graves. The grave stones (old style grey slate I remember) were removed and for quite some time they leaned against the old wall on the side of the land that had not been tended. The old, original wall around the land was demolished and replaced with metal railings. Before that we kids found a stash of coins in the wall - it was a great scramble to get a few!
