Looking northwest. The wharf was served by the Nottingham Canal, which is immediately beyond the bridge in the centre of the photo. The bridge carries the canal towpath over the entrance to the wharf.
The traffic is on London Road.
From left to right in the background is: Walter Danks warehouse and offices, Crocus Street, and the rear of Hicking and Pentecost Bleaching and Dyeing Works in the centre of Queens Road, Norfolk Hotel at the junction on Crocus Street and London Road, more of Walter Danks premises, and the rear of more of Hicking and Pentecost's Works - the one on the right edge adjoining London Road.
Alongside the wharf, right, are materials for use by Technical Services Housing (repairs) Department.
