Description:
See NTGM015648 and NTGM015649 for aerial views of how Eastcroft looked in the 1920s and 30s.
These coke hoppers were completed in 1934. The section nearest the camera was for the loading of road vehicles. Railway wagons were loaded at the far end and those have just been loaded. It is interesting to note that they bore the name of Nottingham Corporation Gas Department. On the left edge is part of the cast-iron viaduct of the ex Great North Railway Line to Grantham. Through the span is the south gable of a warehouse on the north bank of the Poplar spur of the Nottingham Canal (which had been demolished by the mid-1970s).
