Early nineteenth century timber wharves on the north bank of the Nottingham Canal, at the rear of the south side of Canal Street. Seen from the lattice-girder parapet of the great Northern line bridge over the canal.
From the left to the right in the background is: Trivetts Buildings, Short Hill; The Ice Stadium; the roof and spire of St Patricks RC Church, London Road; Boots works on Poplar Street; and the rear of Boots generating station, which faces onto London Road and now used by the City Council in conjunction with heating scheme from the new incinerator at Eastcroft, (Reg Baker, 1975).
