Description:
Ran between Huntingdon Street and Alfred Street Central.
Wellington Street and its neighbour, Watkin Street, still exist today (2013) as far as their original junctions with Shelton Street. About halfway down Wellington Street, on the right of this photo, was a 'cut-through' that led to Watkin Street. Running off Wellington Street on the left, just before the Shelton Street junction, is Ridding Terrace. They were referred to as 'The Railway Houses', which may explain why they escaped the bulldozers in the 1970s. (Information kindly supplied by Terry Sleaford).
