Description:
George Parr was born May 22 1826 in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire.
He made his first-class debut in 1844 and within a few seasons he developed into 'the finest Batsman' in England. In 1859 he led the first touring cricket team abroad, which was victorious in every match.
He died June 23 1891 in his native village where he had lived all his life.
