Description:
Netherfield station (Netherfield and Colwick until 1974) looking east from the site of the former goods yard. Netherfield Junction signal box is to the right and a Class 114 diesel multiple unit is about to depart for Grantham, Netherfield being its first stop after leaving Nottingham. The bridge carries Chaworth Road.
The photographer's original caption includes the following: 'The hut, built of sleepers, left of the first car, is the Platelayer's hut; the brick one beyond it was the train-crew's cabin where they awaited the train which they had to take over from the crew they had to relieve. This is now used as an oil store by the Permanent Way men, the oil being used to lubricate the points.'
