Description:
Headstones in the graveyard surrounding St Margaret's Church. The one in the centre is a memorial to the Wild family. A church is known to have existed here in 1299 but the present building largely dates from 1705, albeit incorporating some elements of an earlier and larger building. It was listed Grade II-star in 1965.
The fragment of brick wall in the background is said to be a relict of Owthorpe Hall, which belonged to the Hutchinson family. Colonel John Hutchinson was one of the regicides of King Charles I. The Hall was demolished in the late eighteenth century.
