Description:
The Railway Viaducts, looking North East from the floodplain. In the foreground is the 1960s line to Cotgrave Colliery. Through the stilts of this can be seen the blue-brick viaduct cum embankment carrying the former GNR line to Grantham from Nottingham. The train - a diesel unit - en route to Nottingham from Grantham, is approaching the cast-iron brudge which spans the River Trent. The arches it is on are fancied with Mansfield Stone. In the background is Rectory Junction Signal-box. In the days of Colwick MPD, and the link-line to the back line and Colwick Sidings, this was a very busy box.
